Topic: The term Cloud Computing, also referred to as virtualization, applies to efficiencies in accessing and processing data through enhanced coordination of operating systems, computer programs, servers, networks, hardware, and storage. An example would be the ability to run a program on your laptop, even though the software was installed on another machine. Needless to say, the combinations are endless. Virtualization enables businesses to access technologies and services that were previously unavailable to them, and creates significant managerial efficiencies. The meeting will focus on three aspects of the Cloud: - If you are an entrepreneur or small business owner, what operating efficiencies does the Cloud offer you, and how can you access these technologies? - If your business has know-how that can be integrated into the virtualization process, how do you go about creating partnerships with companies which already play significant roles in the Cloud? - As a startup or small business, can integration into the Cloud make your company more investable? Speakers: Snehal Antani leads business strategy and product management of IBM Corp.'s Websphere operations, where he is responsible for cloud and virtualization technologies. His focus is on grid / cloud / high-performance computing / middleware architectures and design, in which he serves as a business and technical advisor to key customers. Snehal has played an active role in patent development, and has written several articles relating to technology applications. He earned a MS in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
