IE Associate Professor Nazareno Ciccarelo, will share his own story of how he prepared to leave a very successful career in the pharmaceutical industry to launch his own company, Functional Gums, and will provide insight and guidance to others aspiring to do the same.

About the Master Class
Professor Ciccarelo will talk about his experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and his transition to being CEO of his own company. He’ll touch on aspects of his core specialist areas: Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Teambuilding, to create an active, fun and useful session where the individuals will explore how to leverage their own expertise and remove the obstacles standing in the way of their taking the Entrepreneurship Plunge.


About the Speaker



Nazareno Ciccarelo
IE Associate Professor

Nazareno Mario Ciccarello, former professional athlete and lieutenant of the Italian military police, received his BA in Political Science from Università LUISS Guido Carli in Rome. He started his career working in various multinational companies in the healthcare sector before joining the International MBA program at IE Business School in Madrid. After making it to the finals at IE Venture Day he turned his career around. He founded Functional Gums and continued to pursue international business development consultancy. He now acts as the current CEO for Functional Gums, is an adjunct professor at IE business school and provides international business development consultancy to pharmaceutical companies. His passion for different cultures and diving drive his personal and professional life, constantly reminding him to "challenge yourself as much as you can; life is a continuous learning process".

The presentation will be followed by a networking cocktail with alumni and faculty.
