The Columbia Business School Alumni Club of New York and New York magazine invite Beta Gamma Sigma-NYC to their second of a series of events called the "New York Master Class Series." The second event will feature noted New York magazine "Power Grid" columnist, John Heilemann, in a one-on-one conversation with Robert Wolf, Chairman & CEO of UBS Americas. The far-ranging discussion will include how technology, globalization, and the rise of hedge funds and private equity are changing banks, banking, and the money game. And why the 2008 election is so important in shaping the 21st Century economy. Once again, John will host this premiere event at the really-hot Tribeca Cinemas (home of the Tribeca Film Festival). Chief Operating Officer, UBS Investment Bank Robert Wolf is the Chairman & CEO of UBS Americas where he oversees the growth and the strategic efforts of more than 30,000 employees. He also serves as Global Chief Operating Officer for UBS Investment Bank with 35 locations. In addition, Robert is a member of the UBS Group Managing Board and the UBS Investment Bank Management Committee. Robert, who joined the firm in 1994 after approximately 10 years at Salomon Brothers, served previously as Global Head of Fixed Income from 2002-2004. As an active alumni of the University of Pennsylvania, Robert is on the Undergraduate Executive Board of the Wharton School and the Athletic Board of Overseers. He has also recently been named Honorary Chair of the 2007 Joseph Wharton Awards Dinner. With a strong interest in democratic politics, Robert is recognized as a leading national supporter for Senator Barack Obama in his 2008 Presidential Campaign. Robert is also very involved in community service through his participation on the Executive Leadership Council for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, where he is being honored with the Corporate Leadership Award at the 2007 Fall Gala alongside Spirit of Hope award recipient, Lance Armstrong. His other board affiliations include the Children’s Aid Society, the Partnership for New York City, the National Sports Museum and the Financial Services Roundtable. Robert also participated at the inaugural Wall Street Forum for HIV and AIDS alongside former UN Secretary Kofi Annan. Robert graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1984 with a B.S. in Economics. John Heilemann writes “The Power Grid” column for New York as well as longer features.
